If your organization has customized the ReturnSafe mobile app to enable physical distancing alerts and you are not receiving them, or are receiving them inconsistently, then this article is for you.
First and foremost, understand that some inconsistency is common - there are a variety of factors that can impact the accuracy of alerts. The physical distancing alerts in a mobile app rely on the phone's Bluetooth, which has inherent limitations, as it was not designed to measure distance. Factors that can impact the alerts include the phone model, orientation, and limitations of phone's OS. Have your organization's admin/HR team ask ReturnSafe about wearable solutions that can provide greater accuracy.
If your organization has enabled physical distance alerts and you are never receiving them, here are a few settings to check:
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone and that the ReturnSafe app has permission to access Bluetooth.
- Ensure that the ReturnSafe app is running. iPhones in particular tend to kill apps using Bluetooth in the background - utilize Pocket Mode (needed on iPhone only) to "lock" your phone with ReturnSafe in the foreground.
- Your organization may have a geofence set up, such that alerts will only appear in the vicinity of your office/campus.
- Ensure that you have not paused your physical distance alerts. Navigate to the At Work (or On Campus) screen in ReturnSafe. If you see a 'play' icon to the left of Alert History please tap it to re-enable alerts.
